The first half of 2026 has been a period of deep reflection, meaningful connections, and steady growth. Starting off this year with some health challenges really through me into the deep end of what I was carrying into this new year and prompted me to really have to think about where I was going and what outdated habits and mindsets I was still holding on to. These challenges gave me the gift of introspection and the motivation to finally shake free from some of the outdated mindsets, habits and stories I was still living in.
This time has offered me a chance to find deeper inspiration and purpose in the mahi I do every day and in the way I approach life.
Building trust and security through the koha model has shaped how I run my business, while forming strong relationships with whai ora (clients) has been a true privilege. Alongside this, I was given the courage to hold space for a new wānanga - somewhere for us to gather and share and learn collectively.
So far 2026 is shaping up to be another big year for growth, completion and new beginnings.

Finding Purpose in Everyday Mahi
Mahi, has become so much more for me than just tasks, deadlines and paychecks in fact calling it "mahi" doesn't really align at all these days.
It is a source of connection and meaning. Over the past 2 years of birthing pūmanawa traditional healing, I have discovered that purpose grows when "mahi" aligns with values and community needs. Each day brings opportunities to contribute in ways that matter, whether through supporting others or nurturing my own growth.
For example, working alongside whai ora on their healing journeys has shown me how "mahi" can be a catalyst for transformation. Seeing individuals gain confidence and resilience reminds me why this work is important. Purpose emerges not just from what I do but from the impact it has on others.
This "mahi" has shown me what it looks and feels like when we are truly aligned to our purpose, what can happen when we let go of all known security and just fully trust that IO matua (the creator) has our back no matter what. It has given me the gift of presence, and shown me how to move slowly and intentionally through the world ( and yes this is hard to nail everyday, and I don't always get it right).
Each day that I work in the clinic space and with each whai Ora that trusts me to be a space holder for them while they navigate their healing has been a gift, and it is what holds me accountable for my own journey, this is the type of reciprocity that can occur when we can meet in a space of neutrality, willingness, and trust.
Building Trust and Security with the KOHA Model
Running a business requires more than skills and strategy; it demands trust and security. The koha model has been central to this. Rooted in reciprocity and respect, koha encourages giving and receiving in balanced ways that strengthen relationships.
Applying koha means creating an environment where everyone feels valued and supported. This approach has helped build a foundation of trust with clients and partners. For instance, transparent communication and honoring commitments have led to stronger collaborations and a sense of security.
Trust built through koha also extends to financial practices and decision-making. It encourages generosity without expectation, which fosters goodwill and long-term stability. This model has reshaped how I view business success—not just in profits but in relationships and shared growth.
Watching Whai Ora Blossom on Their Healing Journeys
One of the most rewarding parts of the past six months (or over that past 2 years) has been witnessing whai ora flourish. These individuals come with unique stories and challenges, and supporting their healing journeys has been a privilege.
Each journey is different, but common themes emerge: courage, resilience, and hope. By creating safe spaces and offering consistent support, I have seen many take steps toward wellbeing and empowerment. These moments of growth are powerful reminders of why healing matters.
Welcoming New Wananga to Te Ao Marama
The arrival of new wānanga has brought fresh energy and knowledge. Wānanga are more than workshops; they are gatherings where learning, sharing, and growing happen in a collective way.
These sessions have covered a range of topics, from traditional healing methods to modern wellbeing practices. Each wānanga offers practical tools and insights that enrich our mahi and personal lives. It's my hope that Participants leave with new skills, tools and a deeper understanding of themselves and their whanau.
Growing Through Shared Knowledge and Experience
Learning is a continuous process, especially when it happens alongside others. this journey has shown me the value of shared knowledge and experience in personal and professional growth.
Engaging with diverse perspectives during wānanga and daily mahi has expanded my understanding and skills. It has also highlighted the importance of humility and openness. No matter how much we know, there is always room to learn from others.
This growth is not just individual but collective. When we share what we learn, we build stronger communities and create spaces where everyone can thrive. This principle now guides how I approach new challenges and opportunities.
